Yellow Jacket Press

   

Once a year YellowJacket Press will run the YellowJacket Press Chapbook Competition for an unpublished chapbook of poems no more than 20 pages in length, not including front and back matter (table of contents, title page, etc.). The contest is open to new, emerging, and established writers who are residents of Florida. The winner will receive book publication, a $250 cash award, and twenty-five copies of the book.   

   

* All manuscripts must be original work and should include a title page (listing only the title of the collection) and acknowledgements page (to indicate any previously published poems, if applicable). Additionally, please use an easy-to-read, 12 pt. font such as Times New Roman or Garamond. Do not include any identifying information within the manuscript itself. A table of contents is appreciated but not required.  

   

* To be eligible for the contest, poets must be residents of Florida.    

* Individual poems can be previously published but the collection as a whole should be unpublished. Please include the poems that have been published, if any, in an acknowledgements page.    

* Simultaneous submissions are accepted and encouraged, but please notify us immediately if the manuscript is accepted for publication elsewhere.   

* The fee to submit is $15. Payments should be made to Keep St. Pete Lit via PayPal. Manuscripts will not be read until the payment is received. If the payment is an obstacle for you, please send us a message.     

* Submit manuscripts to yellowjacketpress@gmail.com as a Word document. In the body of the email include a brief cover letter and bio and include where in Florida you reside.   

* The reading period opens on April 1, 2025 and runs until May 15, 2025. 

* The winner of the 2025 YellowJacket Press Chapbook Competition will be announced on or before August 1, 2025.
