KEEP ST. PETE LIT is on a mission to elevate literacy rates among youth in South St. Petersburg!

We’re doing this through the installation of free book boxes, titled WORD! Book Boxes. We have given out 30,000 free books through this program, which has been going strong since 2017. 

When a child grabs a book from a WORD! Book Box they’ll have free access to new culturally inclusive and uplifting books. Often these books go into homes with multiple children, so we are serving between 10,000-15,000 kids a year.

WORD! Book Boxes are located at:

• Community Health Centers of Pinellas- Johnnie Ruth Clarke Center
• Thomas “Jet” Jackson Recreation Center
• Childs Park Recreation Center
  
• Starling School
