Come participate in our third literary salon of the season, a place for the community to engage with authors and explore new ideas.
Worlds and Music
Join the award-winning speculative fiction author Tenea D. Johnson for a reading and performance from her oeuvre of written work and musical stories. From social dystopias to blueprints for better worlds, Johnson’s work explores the universe of ideas, ethics and redemption. She’ll share science fiction, horror, urban fantasy and interstitial selections that take the audience to new places, and at times off the page. Group discussion will follow to further explore these connections.
Her work has appeared in Mothership: Tales of Afrofuturism, Humanities in the South, and Shades of Blue & Gray: Ghosts of the Civil War, among others. Her stories were heard at various venues including The Public Theater and Knitting Factory. She is the co-editor of the Over the Rainbow pick, Heiresses of Russ (2011 ed.) and author of Starting Friction, a poetry/prose collection, as well as the novels, Smoketown and R/evolution. 2017 will see the publication of a new novel, Evolution.
