Do you have a powerful, or even shocking story that you want to write about, but are not confident to do? The best authors know how to tell the truth without spelling it out. They let the reader discover what lies beneath the mask; and this personal revelation is what brings truth to life. We will examine how 5 authors skillfully craft this feat through careful interweaving between scene, dialogue and summary. Then we will practice what is observed using their writing as prompts. Authors studied will include Alexandra Fuller, Eleni Sikelianos, Lucy Grealy, Audrey Lorde, and Kao Kalia Yang.
